It's kind of a brief history, maybe somewhat embellished, but between the chapters about chess history are the movements in a casual game between Adolf Anderssen and Lionel Kieseritzky.Īnderssen sacrificed a bunch of strong pieces luring Kieseritzky into a devious series of traps. One of the best books I've ever read is called "The immortal game a history of chess" And like they say, anything's a dildo if you're brave enough. I like to finger fuck them though, or play through the famous games. I can't actually play well on full sized sets, it's so hard to see the pattern when they are big and close. I have a quadruple weight plastic set that is really pretty too. I also have a parlor sized zagreb set and a parlor sized bridled knight set. I sold it on ebay, I thought I would get more for it, they aren't really uncommon though. If you really want a chuckle, get a load of my african thornwood set. I have it in red and white, I can't find a pic but it looks like this. Since this is now a chess thread, the most beautiful set in my opinion is the romanian. They will probably ban chess, they already want to ban sheet music for being racist ( I'm not making it up ) Computers have already ruined chess in my opinion, along with speed chess. What are players supposed to do? Both go first? I guess they could eliminate the color black, like they got rid of aunt jemima. There's entire books on it.īut it's all irrelevant, because players change place in a tournament. The second one that moves has already lost a tempo, but there are strategies to gain it back. View QuoteThere are sets with no actual white pieces, the lighter side is still considered white as far as determining who goes first.Ī big part of the strategy of chess is the dynamics of who goes first.
